At this point, everyone has heard of Genshin Impact, the open-world gacha RPG game that drew inspiration from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild. The game has taken over the world on every platform, so it is no surprise that it is coming over to the Switch in 2021.
Genshin Impact is a free to play title set in a fantasy open world equipped with an action-based battle system. Characters have their own elemental magic and can be equipped with weapons and artifacts. This is an online-only game and multiplayer mode allows for up to four people to play at a time.
The one aspect of the game that caused distress amongst players was the gacha aspect. For those unfamiliar with it, a gacha system is when players spend money on in-game currency to receive a random virtual item. It is similar to loot boxes and is usually implemented in free to play games. It will surely be one of the best Upcoming Nintendo Switch Games in 2021.
Bravely Default 2
Don’t be fooled by its name, Bravely Default 2 is actually the third game in the Bravely series but the storyline and characters are totally unrelated from those of the first and second game. This is an RPG game by Claytechworks and Square Enix set for release on February 26 of 2021, if it doesn’t get delayed again that is.
The game features a turn-based battle mechanic and a ‘Brave Point’ system. The idea is of collecting Asterisks to level up character classes. Players will need to defeat enemies to gain Asterisks and switch jobs. After a demo in March, the developers decided to add in some changes, namely: monster speed adjustment, adding difficulty levels, revamped controls, and a better user interface.
The story follows a sailor named Seth as he sets out to find four Crystals to save the five kingdoms of Excillant, meeting some Heroes of Light and enemies along the way.
No More Heroes 3
After a ten year hiatus from the last game, No More Heroes is back. A hack and slash action-adventure video game featuring our beloved Travis Touchdown. He returns to Santa Destroy to save the world from an alien invasion.
The game revolves around Travis Touchdown, a thug looking assassin that wields a ‘beam katana’ which is essentially a lightsaber. As he makes his return to the fictional city of Santa Destroy. An artificial island has sprung up and a huge object is hovering over the island, possibly bringing him more enemies to destroy.
No More Heroes and No More Heroes 2 were already remastered and ported for the Switch. Although there are some differences that don’t really capture certain aspects of the game, the essence is still there. Not to mention the smoothness of the movements and graphics.
Monster Hunter Rise
This is an action RPG game hailing from the Monster Hunter series created by Capcom that will be released on March 26th, 2021. It is a highly anticipated game as it is the first to incorporate Capcom’s RE Engine and the first Monster Hunter for the Switch aside from the Monster Hunter Generations port from the Nintendo 3DS.
Monster Hunter Rise will allow players to be a Monster Hunter tasked with slaying or trapping monsters with weapons, tools, and the environment. These captured monsters are usually to complete quests that will offer loot to players. There will be new tools, weapons, and monsters available for this new installment in the Monster Hunter series.
The improvements made in Monster Hunter World will be brought over to Monster Hunter Rise, so better weapon-making, battles, and maps can be expected.

An upcoming action platformer by Balan Company, Arzest, and Square Enix which will be released on March 26th, 2021. Balan Wonderworld looks to be an interesting colorful game set around a mysterious musical theatre.
The game is set in the magical world of Wonderworld. Here, the two protagonists: Leo and Emma are off on an adventure with the magician Balan to discover what is most precious to them. They need to restore the balance in their hearts in order to return to the real world. Seems like a heartfelt story within a rather colorful game.
